New Comedy Writing Competition
Welcome to the David Nobbs Memorial Trust. We are a small but dedicated registered Trust established in memory of beloved comedy writer David Nobbs, who died in 2015. The Trust awards a one-off grant to a limited number of up and coming comic writers each year to allow them to finesse their craft.
In conversation, David said that, when he was starting out, he sometimes wished he’d had a few quid put aside to ‘buy’ the time to finish whatever he was working on.
Our goal is to give comedy writers at the early stages of their career an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of one of the country’s all-time comedy greats. This could be your chance to win that grant of £1000 to help carve out some precious time to perfect your craft - and make people laugh along the way. Any runner-up winners will receive £250. The winners will also get a precious one-on-one consultation with an established comedy producer on the Trust board. Find out how to enter here.
